Q&A: “Un-stuck”
Posted on 10. Apr, 2012 by Phyllis in Life Coach
We love getting questions from our readers. Here is a Q and A exchange between a reader and our Life Coach Phyllis.
Q: What does Phyllis suggest someone does – who is in a professional job and has a good home life with her husband – but feels “stuck” in her life? No news or drama is a good thing, but I feel professionally and personally stuck, like I’m not moving forward and everything is the same old, same old routine. It extends to my interactions with people around me – family, co-workers – that feel “stuck” too. Does Phyllis have any advice for getting out of a rut, and helping yourself move forward to more happiness?
A: Great question! This is a question I am asked a lot so you are not alone. The first response to the question is to always ask yourself the question “ am I doing what I love?”
If you answered no, then that is where you can start getting yourself unstuck. Not feeling on purpose, not feeling as if what you are doing is making a difference to not only your life, but to others, can leave you with this stuck feeling.
What are you passionate about? What do you get tremendous joy from doing- with or without pay? What are you willing to work at right up until you breathe your last breath? The answer(s )to these questions will start a shift, a movement in your life that will create feelings of excitement and anticipation.
This is how you start the process of getting unstuck. You will require a plan to help you move towards living your life on purpose. A competent coach can help you do this.
Regarding your relationship- getting unstuck means looking for the things in your lives that make your partner unique, that you enjoy doing with your partner. Make a list of things about your partner that you absolutely love- it could be simple things such as travelling with your partner, how your partner interacts with you, your children and others, or how your partner is passionate about a hobby etc. What you look for you will find.
This same approach also applies to your friends and those you spend social time with. What you look for you will find, simply means whatever you place your energy on you will develop that aspect of your life.
Trusting this is helpful to start the un-stucking process. Don’t hesitate to work with a life coach to help you get clear on your
desires.
In health and success,
Phyllis
