Sweet, Savoury and Plain Popover Recipes

Popovers are super easy to make and one of those recipes that always impresses your guests and family. Popovers are a light, hollow roll made from an egg batter similar to that used in making Yorkshire pudding. The name “popover” comes from the fact that the batter swells or “pops” over the top of the muffin tin while baking. They can also be baked in individual custard cups.
Traditionally Yorkshire pudding was made from beef or pork drippings in a preheated greased baking tin containing the very hot fat. We have taken this traditional recipe concept and have made it a heart smart recipe by using canola oil. Canola oil is the lowest in saturated fat of any oil and because it has such a high smoke point (242°C/468°F) it can handle the heat. This is the key in a successful popover!
